Rogier van Reekum
I did my masters in sociology and philosophy at the University of Amsterdam, focusing on disadvantaged schooling (sociology) and evolutionary thinking (philosophy). After a short stint at the Scientific Council for Government Policy, I wrote my dissertation (cum laude) at the AISSR on public debates over Dutchness and citizenship (supervised by Jan Willem Duyvendak and Evelien Tonkens).
I’m involved in a number of publication platforms. I am an editor at Krisis, Journal for contemporary philosophy, an open-access and fully independent platform for philosophical work that is directly engaging public issues. I am also a member of the editorial team of Sociologie, one of the main sociology journals in the Netherlands.
I’m currently researching visualization practices in the management of borders and the monitoring of irregular mobility across Europe (subproject 4).
